New server
If all is working right, you can type in digitalquirk.ca and actually see a web site being hosted on an old computer I pieced together. My blog is still at tripod, of course.

I used a case and power supply that's nearly 10 years old, a K62-450 processor, socket 7 motherboard, 192 MB of RAM, a 4 gig hard drive, the disk drive and CD-ROM from an old IBM PS1, an old video card and an old ethernet card. I threw it all together and it worked. I installed Red Hat Linux 9 that I downloaded and burned a year ago when I tested it out. Though it's not that great for a personal desktop OS, it makes for an awesome server. My new server cost me absolutely nothing, and it's much faster than Tripod.

Once I migrate everything over to the new server and set up some sort of new blogger, I'm going to build another Linux-based backup PC for backup. It'll probably run a text-only version of Red Hat 9.

I had to do it...I'd been talking about setting up my own web server for a while. I used to run a BBS, so it must be in my blood. Others have offered hosting for free for me, which I'm thankful for...but this is something this old-skool computer geek just had to do.

I've been busy
Although it may not look like it, I've done quite a bit of work on my site over the past couple of days. I registered digitalquirk.ca, so that's all you need to type in to get to my site. I completed the neon files, over 68 html and graphic images. I had created a lot of crap pertaining to the Neon over the years. Instead of letting it go to waste, I decided to put it up here instead. There's probably some html code problems here and there, but if you own a neon, I think it's definitely worthwhile checking out.

Eventually, the neon files will be linked from my garage which will have links to everything I've done with regards to automotive. I figured I'd get the car stuff out of the way and then get into the juicy stuff.

I went to a wedding yesterday; my wife's cousin got married. I lent my digicam to my parents who went on a 6 week trip to France, so I was left shooting with my old Pentax film cameras. The old K1000 still draws a lot of attention and comments from people! I'll be setting up a photo gallery soon!

Topic: First Entry
Well, this is my blog. My place to have my say. I know some of you like to know what I have to say on certain topics and what I'm thinking, and I do enjoy writing, so here it is. Here's my plans for my site:

-Register a domain name (digitalquirk.ca)
-Upload of all content I have created so far
-Continue with blogging
-Ad-free hosting
-Message board

This will all take time, so please be patient.
